OCA Soul Haven Receives Outstanding Partner Award (VIDEO)

The Maryland Food Bank works with more than 330 incredible and passionate Network Partners statewide to help expand access to nutritious food while opening pathways out of hunger for more Marylanders.

It’s Hunger Action Month, and at our recent Hunger Action Symposium: Causing Change, we had the opportunity to recognize one partner in each of the five regions we serve (Western, Northern, Baltimore City, Southern, and the Eastern Shore) with “Outstanding Partner” Awards.

In this fifth of five blog posts, you’ll learn about the great work of the Office of Consumer Advocates, Soul Haven in the Hagerstown area.

OCA Soul Haven Outstanding Partner Award

The Office of Consumer Advocates (OCA) Soul Haven has been a partner for over two decades and serves the greater Hagerstown area in Washington County. Soul Haven is focused on comprehensive, whole person care that addresses many of the root causes of hunger.

“OCA Soul Haven has been a phenomenal resource in Hagerstown since 1993, helping neighbors improve their well-being and achieve their goals,” sad Frank Ducey, MFB’s Regional Program Director for the Western Region.

In addition to providing food assistance to up to 50 neighbors daily, Soul Haven offers care for addiction and mental health, helps connect people with social and financial support services, has assisted MFB in broaden the use of Link2Feed neighbor management software in the Western region, and has led the way for more than 40 TEFAP partners in the Western region.

“We are very appreciative of the partnership and support of the Maryland Food Bank. It has allowed us to offer more complete services to our community – including hot meals and a food pantry.”

MARGARET PAUL

Director, OCA Soul Haven

Soul Haven is a community beacon for neighbors facing challenges with mental health, addiction, and food insecurity.

“Soul Haven truly is a pillar of the community – MFB is proud and honored to be able to support their amazing work,” noted Frank.
